Terrible accident.This family is going to suffer for a very long time.The fact that they made a terrible mistake is obvious.But I find it more than a little troubling that some people in a nation that refuses to lock up drug dealers,pimps,child molestors and rapists now want to come down hard on this family. I’m as hard on real criminals as almost anyone I know.And I feel awful about what happened to this young lad.I’m just not sure criminat charges are the right way to go IN THIS CASE.Had they left him there on purpose,I am quite sure I would be asking for criminal charges.But in the context of this incident,with so many people running around,and even though ther had to be a degree of negligence,and though the result was tragic, I think life will punish this family enough.Certainly more than the courts could ever do. Rest in Peace young man.Condolances to suffering friends and family.

throughout the Houston area on Wednesday by members of the Human
Trafficking Rescue Alliance (HTRA) has resulted in the arrest of a man
from the Dominican Republic for conspiracy to commit sex trafficking,
the arrest of a woman for harboring aliens and the rescue of several
women from a life of prostitution, United States Attorney José Angel
Moreno announced today.
Pedro Corporan Cedano, aka Joselo, 38, a citizen of the Dominican
Republic illegally in the United States, was arrested Wednesday morning
during a traffic stop near his Deer Park, Texas, residence. A criminal
complaint filed under seal on Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, and unsealed
following his arrest, charges Cedano with conspiracy to commit sex
trafficking. According to allegations in the criminal complaint, Cedano
used several apartments in and around Houston and in Pasadena, Texas,
to promote and provide commercial sex which allegedly involved the
harboring of women illegally in the country some of whom were paying off
smuggling fees through prostitution.

Two Houston-area people were arrested on charges involving sex trafficking, and nine women forced into prostitution were taken into federal custody, officials said on Thursday.
Pedro Corporan Cedano, of Deer Park, was charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, federal officials said. A criminal complaint accuses the 38-year-old of using apartments in Houston and Pasadena to promote and provide commercial sex.
The complaint said the women were in the country illegally, some paying off smuggling fees through prostitution. Cedano is an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic, officials said.
Carmen Angeles was charged with harboring illegal immigrants. The 33-year-old was arrested at an apartment on Goodson in Houston, one of the apartments used for sex trafficking, officials said. Angeles is a native of the Dominican Republic and a naturalized U.S. citizen.

AUSTIN – Amid growing evidence that young women and girls in Mexico are being lured into lives of prostitution in the United States, Gov. Rick Perry on Thursday proposed increasing the penalties for human trafficking in Texas.
Perry said if re-elected he will ask the Legislature next year to create a new penalty for human trafficking that includes sentences of 25 years to life. The punishment would be for someone convicted of at least two incidents of human trafficking that occur at least 31 days apart.

Human trafficking most often involves the sex trade, with gangs trapping women in lives of prostitution.
Perry’s proposal would be directed at gang members who run the prostitution rings rather than the clients.

In addition to those brought in for prostitution, some of the individuals are brought in for hard labor in construction and agriculture. Many of the traffickers are believed to be in transnational gangs.

Perry calls more penalties for traffickers
HOUSTON — Gov. Rick Perry is proposing new laws to stiffen penalties for human trafficking in the state.
Texas enacted a human trafficking law in 2003, and a statewide human trafficking task force attached to the Texas Attorney General’s Office activated in January.
During an appearance Thursday in Houston, Perry says human trafficking preys on hopes and dreams of victims promised better lives for themselves and families. Instead, he says what awaits victims is a life of confinement, prostitution, abuse and early death.

Texas enacted a human trafficking law in 2003, and last year Perry signed a measure creating a statewide human trafficking task force attached to the Texas Attorney General’s Office. The law took effect in January.
Perry said his was making $500,000 in grants available to counties and cities to help victims of human trafficking. His office’s criminal justice division also will provide the attorney general with nearly $300,000 to expand the trafficking task force to aid in prosecution of cases.
Perry said human trafficking preys on the hopes and dreams of victims who were promised better lives for themselves and their families.
“Unfortunately, what awaits victims is a life of confinement, hard labor, prostitution, physical and mental abuse, and in far too many cases an early death,” he said. “Human trafficking is simply modern-day slave trade and its scope is very chilling.”
