Because of his phoned threats to Whitmire, a Houston Democrat who is chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee, prison officials have barred media access to Tabler, who is being held on death row at a prison outside Livingston in East Texas.
Tabler was convicted in 2007 and sentenced to die in for gunning down Mohammed-Amine Rahmouni, 28, and Haitham Zayed, 25, at a remote area in Killeen, not far from Fort Hood. Evidence showed Rahmouni was manager of a strip club who had banned Tabler from his place. Zayed was a friend of Rahmouni.
