Bayou Beat: HOB’s “Blues Schoolhouse” Band Seeks Musicians, Discovery Green Announces Spring Lineup, etc.
Wed., Feb. 10 2010 @ 5:30PM
[Ed. Note: We are not trying to encroach on Ms. Magnolia City Mixtape's territory, but once in a while the news piles up too fast to wait an entire week.]
It’s our party and we’ll pimp if we want to: Perhaps you may have heard about this “Washington Shore” soiree Rocks Off is throwing at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Washington Avenue Drinkery. Don’t let the above video scare you off; we promise none of those people will be there. OK, we can’t do that, but it is early, so they probably won’t be that wasted. And it’s free.
House of Blues Houston has openings for a singer/guitarist and drummer in its “Blues Schoolhouse” band, which performs at the International House of Blues Foundation’s periodic programs for area fifth- through twelfth-graders. Pay is $70 per gig, and you must be available weekday mornings. Email ihobfhouston@livenation.com for more information; deadline is Monday, February 15.
