HOUSTON—Business is booming along FM 1960, but not all of it is legal.
11 News recently tagged along with undercover investigators from the Precinct 4 Harris County Constables Regulatory Enforcement Unit on a crackdown against illegal massage spas in the area.
“They’re tucked back from retail centers, away from the immediate view of 1960,” Constable Ron Hickman said.
The investigators were looking for state-issued operating licenses and massage therapists’ licenses.
In Texas, you have to have them, but the owner of New Asia Massage gave only excuses.
“I don’t know English,” the owner told investigators.

Turns out, there are plenty of spas and massage parlors in Houston.

HOUSTON – Business leaders are teaming with law enforcement to fight the epidemic of sex slavery in the 1960 area of northwest Harris County.
Dozens of sex parlors started opening in the area about two years ago after tighter regulations forced them from the Houston city limits.
Wednesday the executive director of a local ministry told business owners that the women who work in the parlors were sold into slavery by their families overseas.
Dennis Mark of Redeemer Ministries said “Women in these establishments are not there because they enjoy having sex with 15 or 16 strangers a day.”
The Precinct Four Constable’s office raided and closed down some of the parlors.

Houston Massage Parlors: Sex and Money

Let’s begin this conversation with some reality that is not so easily spoken about in open crowds: Sex Sells. In Texas, there is a common phrase that  ”Everything is Bigger” and it is this phrase that captures the sex industry in Houston. The poll I articled over a week ago will shed some light on what habits consume our money. There are various ways to spend your money on sex in Houston: Adult Video Stores, Illegal Prostitution Houses (disguised as massage parlors), or Adult Entertainment Clubs.
Honestly we all have something we spend a little too much money on, so this is far from an attempt to judge those that spend their cash on sex. This is more of an opportunity to see what is out there and draw attention to the industry that may be enabling you to not reach your financial potential.

Butler briefly served as a Houston Police officer back in the 1980’s, sources told FOX 26. “It is a horrible reflection on our society when adults prey on the vulnerabilities of children and reduce them to indentured sex slaves,” U.S. Attorney Tim Johnson said in a prepared statement. “Whenever and wherever offenses of such a depraved nature occur, our law enforcement community will respond with the sum of our collective prosecutorial resources.”
According to a 16-count indictment unsealed Tuesday, the suspects used businesses such as modeling studios, health spas, massage parlors and bikini bars throughout the Houston area to disguise their sex business and hired sexually oriented publications and websites to advertise their business, according to the statement.
