New developments tonight in Thursday’s massage parlor busts on FM 1960. We showed you the alleged prostitutes being hauled off. We now have documents showing the county attorney takes credit for shutting those places down last year when you can clearly see they were open yesterday.
And a lawsuit the county attorney planned to file last year against the shopping center owner to fight human trafficking was drafted, but never filed. Is this another case of a public official saying they did things that they didn’t?
The county attorney hasn’t made this investigation easy. Withholding records. Changing them. Refusing to often answer our questions. Tonight, it gets downright bizarre.

Police Raid Massage Parlors in North Houston

HOUSTON – A huge raid went down in a North Houston shopping plaza where cops say massage parlors were fronts for prostitution.
A number of women were hauled off in handcuffs and charged with prostitution. The three businesses that were busted are Empire, Crystal and Royal massage parlors on FM 1960.

“Complaints that we received of illegal massage parlors and prostitution going on,” says Sgt. Kiser.

Kiser says none of the three businesses have an operating license or permits to operate a massage parlor and he says none of the workers have a massage license as is required by the state of Texas. He says the women actually live and sleep in the businesses and actually these same places were busted just a few months ago.

The project aims to raise awareness about human trafficking and connect students with outside anti-human trafficking organizations.

La Porte Police say massage parlor fronted prostitution
La Porte Police have arrested a massage parlor owner they claim ran a prostitution service through the business.
Police say a combination of allegations and anonymous tips led to the sting, which happened around 3 p.m. Friday, April 13 at the JJ Relax Spa in the 1300 block of West Fairmont Parkway.
“Employees at the spa did not solicit services, nor were offers or requests made by undercover officers, but rather the owner … attempted to begin a sexual act with police,” read a report from the La Porte Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit.
After payment for sexual services was discussed, an undercover agent signaled to investigators to move in and make an arrest.
JJ Relax Spa owner Xiaowen Liu, 38, was taken to the La Porte Jail and charged with prostitution.

… HOUSTON (CN) – A Houston man charged with sex trafficking children and adults through massage parlors and spas was indicted on additional charges of witness tampering, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
     Andre McDaniels, 42, is one of six defendants named in a superseding 18-count indictment returned in 2011, alleging sex trafficking of children, conspiracy and coercing adults to perform commercial sex acts, federal prosecutors said in a statement.
     ”According to the allegations in the indictment returned just a short time ago, on Jan. 6, 2012, McDaniels attempted to contact witnesses and other law enforcement officials in his pending criminal case and to intimidate, threaten or corruptly persuade them in an effort to influence or prevent their testimony,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
     McDaniels and his co-defendants are accused of operating commercial sex businesses in Houston disguised as modeling studios, health spas and massage parlors. The group used websites and sexually oriented publications to advertise their business, prosecutors said.
